Use of Plickers® software as a tool to measure learning effectiveness during statics classes

Resumo: | A technologocal tool is used to measure the effectiveness of students’ learning in the subjects os Statistics I adn Statistics II of the Administration course, ande in the Statistic subjects of the Production Engeneering and Accounting Sciences courses of a university center in Zona dmore interesa Mata Mineira; this tool has proven to be useful and agile for real feedback on class learning. The tool in study is called Plickers, being classified as Classroom Response. In mentioned subjects, the tool was integrated into the classes using the Peer Instruction Methodology (PI), in which students learn frim their peers. The tool was well accepted by students who were instantly more interested in classes and new technology, as shown by the results. The fact that each studant has a presponse card, for exclusive use, makes the students’ omission, when answering a question proposed by the teacher, non-existent. This way, this is no longer a problem in the classroom, the teacher has, quickly, the real leaning diagnosis of his students, this allows measures to be taken, when learning can be considered unsatisfactory. The tool allows dynamism during classes, allowing the teacher to make decisions and paths that can revesse unsatisfactory situations. |

Esta herramienta há demonstrado ser útil y ágil para obtener comentários reales sobre el aprendizaje en classe. La herramienta en cuestión se llama Plickers, y se classifica como una respuesta en la clase. En las matérias antes mencionadas, la herramienta se integró en las clases utilizando la metodogía de instrucción entre pares (PI), en la que los estudiantes aprenden de sus compañeros. La herramienta fue bien aceptada por los estudiantes, que instantaneamente se mostraron más interessados en las clases y las nuevas tecnologías, como lo demuestran los resultados. El hecho de que cada estudiante tenga una carta de respuesta, para uso exclusivo, hace que la omisión de los estudiantes, al responder una pregunta propuesta por el maestro, sea inexistente. De esta manera, esto ya no es un problema en la clase, el maestro tiene, rapidamente, el diagnóstico real de aprendizaje de sus alumnos, esto permite tomar medidas cuando el aprendizaje puede considerarse insatisfactorio. La herramienta permite dinamismo durante las clases, lo que permite al maestro tomar decisiones y caminos que pueden revertir situaciones insatisfactorias.O Plickers® é uma ferramenta tecnológica utilizada para medir a efetividade do aprendizado dos alunos, sendo classificada como um Classroom Response. Por ser considerada útil e ágil para medir o real feedback do aprendizado, foi utilizada nas turmas nas disciplinas de Estatística I e Estatística II do curso de Administração e nas disciplinas de Estatística dos cursos de Engenharia de Produção e Ciências Contábeis de um Centro Universitário da Zona da Mata Mineira. Nas disciplinas citadas, a ferramenta foi integrada às aulas por meio da metodologia Peer Instruction (PI), na qual os alunos aprendem com seus pares. Desta forma o objetivo desta pesquisa foi investigar a utilização do software Plickers® como ferramenta para medir a efetividade do aprendizado durante as aulas de estatística, verificando sua real aplicabilidade e aceitação pelos alunos. Os dados coletados e analisados são de natureza qualitativa e quantitativa, se tratando de uma pesquisa de campo. A ferramenta foi bem aceita pelos alunos, que instantaneamente se mostraram mais interessados pelas aulas e pela nova tecnologia, como demonstram os resultados. O fato de cada aluno possuir um cartão resposta, de uso exclusivo, faz com que a omissão dos alunos, no momento de responder a uma questão proposta pelo professor seja inexistente; dessa forma, isso deixa de ser um problema na sala de aula, o professor tem, de forma rápida, o real diagnóstico de aprendizado de seus alunos, isso permite que medidas possam ser tomadas, quando o aprendizado possa ser considerado insatisfatório.
