Brief history of lethality in the exercise of police activity in the State of Pará, Amazonia-Brazil

Resumo: The study aims to analyze the frequent phenomenon of lethality resulting from police intervention in the State of Pará, Brazil. The technique of descriptive statistics is used, with a quantitative focus of the data, from a census of the cases registered in the period from 2011 to 2016, in the State of Pará. The police data were obtained from the Civil Police of the State of Pará. The results obtained indicate the incidence with an upward trend of deaths resulting from police intervention, mainly in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, capital of the State. Therefore, there is a for frequent interaction between society and police as a means of effective control of police activity, ensuring respect for human rights.

Se utiliza la técnica de estadística descriptiva, con un enfoque cuantitativo de los datos, a partir de un censo de los casos registrados en el período de 2011 a 2016, en el Estado de Pará. Los datos policiales se obtuvieron de la Policía Civil del Estado de Pará. Los resultados obtenidos indican la incidencia con una tendencia ascendente de muertes resultantes de la intervención policial, principalmente en la Región Metropolitana de Belém, capital del Estado. Por lo tanto, existe la necesidad de una interacción frecuente entre la sociedad y la policía como un medio de control efectivo de la actividad policial, garantizando el respeto de los derechos humanos.O estudo objetiva descrever o panorama da letalidade decorrente da intervenção policial no Estado do Pará, Brasil.
