Resumo: This work aims to understand the actions of the State of Rio Grande do Norte regarding agricultural education in the years 1908 to 1930. For this, we began the process of mapping and documentary analysis of the messages of the governors of Rio Grande do Norte, which constitute As sources for this investigation. The time cut is justified by the reform of primary education that reorganized education in the state in 1908, and the moment of political change since the 1930s, as well as the lack of documentation in the years after the 1930s about Of agricultural education. From this perspective, we seek to answer the following questions: What are the characteristics of professional education in the First Republic in Rio Grande do Norte? What are the actions of the State for the development of agricultural education? What was needed to create an agricultural school? The theoretical framework is based on the conception of professional education according to Manfredi (2003) and the dimension of political history according to René Remond (2003). The results show us the process of creating agricultural schools and demonstration fields, as well as the processes of analysis and determination of the need to create these establishments in the State, the preparation and apparatus required for the operation as acquisition of materials, farms and Specialized human resources for the implementation and operation of educational establishments.

Para ello, iniciamos el proceso de mapeo y análisis documental de los mensajes de los gobernadores de Rio Grande do Norte, como fuentes a esta investigación. El recorte temporal se justifica por la reforma de la instrucción primaria que reorganizó la enseñanza en el Estado en 1908 y el momento de cambios políticos a partir de la década de 1930, así como por la laguna presente en la documentación referente a los años posteriores a la década de 1930, de la enseñanza agrícola. En esta perspectiva, buscamos responder a las siguientes cuestiones: ¿Cuáles son las características de la enseñanza profesional en la Primera República en Rio Grande do Norte? ¿Cuáles son las acciones del Estado para el desarrollo de la enseñanza agrícola? ¿Qué era necesario para crear una escuela agrícola? El referencial teórico se basa en la concepción de educación profesional conforme a Manfredi (2003) y en la dimensión de la historia política de acuerdo con René Remond (2003). Los resultados encontrados nos permiten percibir el proceso de creación de las escuelas agrícolas y campos de demostración, así como los procesos de análisis y determinación de la necesidad de creación de esos establecimientos en el Estado, la preparación y el equipo necesarios para el funcionamiento como adquisición de materiales, recursos humanos especializados para la ejecución y el funcionamiento de los centros de enseñanza.Este trabalho tem como objetivo compreender as ações do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte referentes ao ensino agrícola nos anos de 1908 a 1930. Para isso, iniciamos o processo de mapeamento e análise documental das mensagens dos governadores do Rio Grande do Norte, as quais constituem-se como fontes à esta investigação. O recorte temporal justifica-se pela reforma da instrução primária que reorganizou o ensino no Estado, em 1908, e o momento de mudanças políticas a partir da década de 1930, bem como pela lacuna presente na documentação referente aos anos posteriores à década de 1930 acerca do ensino agrícola. Nessa perspectiva, buscamos responder às seguintes questões: Quais as características do ensino profissional na Primeira República no Rio Grande do Norte? Quais as ações do Estado para o desenvolvimento do ensino agrícola? O que era necessário para criar uma escola agrícola? O referencial teórico baseia-se na concepção de educação profissional conforme Manfredi (2003) e na dimensão da história política de acordo com René Remond (2003).
