Health education experiences with youth: report of nursing students

Resumo: | The present work intends to report the experience of nursing students in extension actions with the aim of promoting health education for adolescents in a school environment. This is a descriptive study of the experience report type about extensionist experiences of health education addressed by nursing students in the fourth semester of a university in the northern region of the state of Ceará, applied to high school students from a state school of the same municipal location. The themes of Drug Use Prevention, Sexuality and Pregnancy Prevention, Suicide and Bullying Prevention and Group Living were addressed. The themes were addressed through dynamic activities such as board games and “Truth” or “Myth” signs. All school students participated in the actions at different times, totaling an audience of 400 adolescents. Regarding the perception of health with an adolescent public, several doubts were identified regarding the proposed themes, mainly related to sexuality. The dynamics proved to be fundamental for the setting with the moment, allowing the insertion of the team within the students' space, in addition to the analysis of their previous knowledge, their main difficulties. Therefore, we can observe how important the role of the school is in the personal formation of adolescents and how much it is necessary to work on social issues, since the school is the place where they spend most of their time, forming bonds and sharing their experiences. |

Se trata de un estudio descriptivo del tipo relato de experiencia sobre experiencias extensionistas de educación en salud abordadas por estudiantes de enfermería del cuarto semestre de una universidad de la región norte del estado de Ceará, aplicado a estudiantes de enseñanza media de una escuela estatal de igual localidad municipal. Se abordaron los temas de Prevención del Consumo de Drogas, Sexualidad y Prevención del Embarazo, Prevención del Suicidio y el Bullying y Convivencia en Grupo. Los temas fueron abordados a través de actividades dinámicas como juegos de mesa y carteles de “Verdad” o “Mito”. Todos los alumnos de la escuela participaron de las acciones en diferentes momentos, totalizando una audiencia de 400 jóvenes. En cuanto a la percepción de salud con un público adolescente, se identificaron varias dudas con respecto a los temas propuestos, principalmente relacionados con la sexualidad. La dinámica se mostró fundamental para el ajuste con el momento, permitiendo la inserción del equipo en el espacio de los estudiantes, además del análisis de sus conocimientos previos, sus principales dificultades. Por lo tanto, podemos observar cuán importante es el papel de la escuela en la formación personal de los adolescentes y cuánto es necesario trabajar en lo social, ya que la escuela es el lugar donde pasan la mayor parte de su tiempo, formando vínculos y compartiendo sus experiencias.O presente trabalho pretende relatar a experiência de acadêmicos de enfermagem em ações de extensão com intuito da promoção da educação em saúde para adolescentes em ambiente escolar. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo do tipo relato de experiência sobre vivências extensionistas de educação em saúde abordadas por acadêmicos de enfermagem do quarto semestre de uma universidade da região norte do estado do Ceará, aplicadas em alunos do ensino médio de uma escola estadual de igual localização municipal. Foram trabalhados os temas Prevenção do uso de drogas, Sexualidade e prevenção de gravidez, Prevenção de suicídio e Bullying e convivência em grupo. As temáticas foram abordadas através de atividades dinâmicas como jogos de tabuleiro e placas de “Verdade” ou “Mito”. Participaram das ações todos os alunos da escola em diferentes momentos, totalizando um público de 400 jovens. Tratando-se da percepção da saúde com um público adolescente foram identificadas diversas dúvidas referentes aos temas propostos, principalmente relacionadas à sexualidade. As dinâmicas se mostraram fundamentais para a ambientação com o momento, permitindo a inserção da equipe dentro do espaço dos alunos, além da análise do conhecimento prévio destes, as suas principais dificuldades.
