Preceptory in medical training: The knowledge of preceptors on skills in practice scenarios

Resumo: | The objective of this study was to analyze the competences interpreted as relevant by the preceptors who work in the context of the Family Health Strategy. A research was developed using quantitative and qualitative data, collected from medical and nursing professionals who act as preceptors of students of the medical course of a Higher Education Institution. The main competences identified as necessary for the activity of preceptorship are related to the integration of theory and practice, the improvement of the critical-reflexive reasoning of the student, through assessments, constructive and proficient feedbacks. It was identified that a significant portion of the preceptors did not undergo specific training for the development of this activity. This training gap is positioned as an important element to be overcome by Higher Education Institutions that send their students to practical activity, with the collaboration of a preceptor. The provision of training for the preceptor would provide the establishment of standards of conduct to carry out the activity of evaluation and improvement of the teaching and learning system of medical students. |

Se desarrolló una investigación utilizando datos cuantitativos y cualitativos, recolectados de profesionales médicos y de enfermería que actúan como preceptores de estudiantes de medicina en una Institución de Educación Superior. Las principales competencias identificadas como necesarias para la actividad de preceptoría están relacionadas con la integración de la teoría y la práctica, la mejora del razonamiento crítico-reflexivo del estudiante, a través de evaluaciones, retroalimentación constructiva y competente. Se identificó que una parte importante de los preceptores no realizaban una formación específica para el desarrollo de esta actividad. Esta brecha formativa se posiciona como un elemento importante a ser superado por las Instituciones de Educación Superior que orientan a sus estudiantes a actividades prácticas, con la colaboración de un preceptor. La oferta de formación para el preceptor contemplaría el establecimiento de normas de conducta para realizar la actividad de evaluación y perfeccionamiento del sistema de enseñanza y aprendizaje de los estudiantes de medicina.O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar as competências interpretadas como relevantes pelos preceptores que atua no contexto da Estratégia da Saúde da Família. Desenvolveu-se uma pesquisa utilizando dados quantitativos e qualitativos, coletados junto a profissionais de medicina e de enfermagem que atuam como preceptores de alunos do curso de medicina de uma Instituição de Ensino Superior. As principais competências identificadas como necessárias para a atividade da preceptoria estão relacionadas a integração da teoria e prática, o aprimoramento do raciocínio crítico- reflexivo do aluno, por meio de avaliações, feedbacks construtivos e proficientes. Identificou-se que parcela significativa dos preceptores não realizou formação específica para o desenvolvimento desta atividade. Esta lacuna de formação, se posiciona como um importante elemento a ser superado pelas Instituições de Ensino Superior que encaminham seus alunos para a atividade prática, com a colaboração de um preceptor.
