Distance, media and individual education in the post-modern society: reflections on education and mediatized culture by consumption

Resumo: In the last ten years, distance education has gained prominence in the social context of education in Brazil, mainly due to the significant increase in the total number of higher education students enrolled in this modality. The role of the media and the contemporary characteristics of society can expose substantial factors for the formation of a culture focused on consumption, interfering in the ways of thinking, acting and consuming of individuals, including in the field of Education. For this purpose, a bibliographic search was carried out through written and electronic means. Between the months of April and June 2020, in the electronic searches, the Google Scholar, traditional Google, Scielo and Lilacs databases were accessed, indicated in the methodology of this study. In view of this theme, the present study aimed to characterize subsidies related to the following question: what is the role of the media and the characteristics of the current (postmodern) society in the changes of Brazilian higher education education in the face of a culture mediated by consumption? The realization of this showed that the influence of the media, and the current social characteristics, is decisive in the relationship of individuals with consumption, including in the scope of education. Through consumption, the subject seeks his personalization.

Through consumption, the subject seeks his personalization.En los últimos diez años, la educación a distancia ha ganado protagonismo en el contexto social de la educación en Brasil, principalmente debido al aumento significativo en el número total de estudiantes de educación superior matriculados en esta modalidad. El papel de los medios de comunicación y las características contemporáneas de la sociedad pueden exponer factores sustanciales para la formación de una cultura centrada en el consumo, interfiriendo en las formas de pensar, actuar y consumir de los individuos, incluso en el ámbito de la Educación. Para ello se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica a través de medios escritos y electrónicos. Entre los meses de abril y junio de 2020, en las búsquedas electrónicas se accedió a las bases de datos Google Scholar, Google tradicional, Scielo y Lilacs, indicadas en la metodología de este estudio. En vista de este tema, el presente estudio tuvo como objetivo caracterizar los subsidios relacionados con la siguiente pregunta: ¿cuál es el papel de los medios y las características de la sociedad actual (posmoderna) en los cambios de la educación superior brasileña frente a una cultura mediada por el consumo? La realización de esto mostró que la influencia de los medios, y las características sociales actuales, es determinante en la relación de los individuos con el consumo, incluso en el ámbito educativo. A través del consumo, el sujeto busca su personalización.Nos últimos dez anos a Educação a distância tem ganhado destaque no contexto social da Educação no Brasil, principalmente pelo significativo aumento do total de alunos de ensino superior matriculados nesta modalidade. O papel da mídia e as características contemporâneas da sociedade podem expor fatores substanciais para a formação de uma cultura voltada para o consumo, interferindo nos modos de pensar, agir e consumir dos indivíduos, inclusive no campo da Educação. Para tanto, foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica por meio escrito e eletrônico. Entre os meses de abril e junho de 2020, nas pesquisas eletrônicas, foram acessadas as bases de dados do Google Acadêmico, Google tradicional, Scielo e Lilacs, indicadas na metodologia deste estudo. E diante deste tema, o presente estudo visou caracterizar subsídios referentes a seguinte questão: qual o papel da mídia e das características da atual sociedade (pós-moderna) nas mudanças da educação de ensino superior brasileira diante de uma cultura mediatizada pelo consumo? A realização deste evidenciou que a influência da mídia, e das características sociais atuais, é determinante na relação dos indivíduos com o consumo, inclusive no âmbito da educação.
