Environment and health themes approach in Middle Schools in the Municipality of Alegrete, RS

Resumo: | The environment and health relation is a theme that is being highlighted in debates and scientific events aiming at quality of life in our society. The necessary link between health and environmental aspects rose when the WHO (1946) defined health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not just as the absence of disease or illness. In Brazilian education, environment and health themes were initially encouraged through the National Curriculum Parameters, together with other issues through transversal themes, and the idea of promoting emerging issues development in all basic education areas of knowledge. Due initial and continuing training of teachers deficiency regarding the proposed themes, their approach often ends up being limited to specific dates and in a superficial and decontextualized way. Aiming at correct and adequate dissemination of these important themes that can improve the quality of life of society, the present study sought to diagnose how the environment and health themes are approached by teachers from four municipal middle schools of Alegrete / RS. After analyzing the data, it can be inferred that results reflect a scenario in which the environment and health themes approach occurs, however, in a disconnected and decontextualized way most of the time and with the environment theme being more valued than the health theme, disfavoring its link with the environment and consequently the relationship with the students' quality of life. |

El vínculo necesario entre los aspectos ambientales y la salud surgió cuando la OMS (1946) definió la salud como un estado de completo bienestar físico, mental y social, y no solo como la ausencia de enfermedad o dolencia. En la educación brasileña, los temas de medio ambiente y salud fueron impulsados inicialmente a través de los Parámetros Curriculares Nacionales - PCN, junto con otros temas a través de temas transversales, con la idea de promover el desarrollo de temas emergentes en todas las áreas del conocimiento de la educación básica. Debido a la deficiencia en la formación inicial y continua del profesorado en relación a los temas propuestos, el abordaje de los temas muchas veces acaba limitado a fechas concretas, de forma superficial y descontextualizada. Con el objetivo de la correcta y adecuada difusión de estos importantes temas que pueden mejorar la calidad de vida de la sociedad, el presente estudio buscó diagnosticar cómo los temas de medio ambiente y salud son abordados por los docentes de los últimos años de la escuela primaria en cuatro escuelas municipales de Alegrete / RS. Luego de analizar los datos, se puede inferir que los resultados reflejan un escenario en el que el abordaje de los temas de medio ambiente y salud se da, sin embargo, la mayoría de las veces, de manera desvinculada y descontextualizada, siendo que el tema del medio ambiente es más valoró, en cuanto al tema salud, desfavorecer su vinculación con el medio ambiente y, en consecuencia, la relación con la calidad de vida de los estudiantes.A relação ambiente e saúde é uma temática que está sendo destaque em debates e eventos científicos visando a qualidade de vida da sociedade. A necessária vinculação de aspectos ambientais com a saúde teve ascensão quando a OMS (1946) definiu a saúde como um estado de completo bem-estar físico, mental e social, e não apenas como a ausência de doença ou enfermidade. Na educação brasileira, os temas meio ambiente e saúde foram inicialmente incentivados através dos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais – PCN, juntamente com outras temáticas através dos temas transversais, sendo sua ideia promover o desenvolvimento de assuntos emergentes em todas as áreas de conhecimento da educação básica. Devido a deficiência na formação inicial e continuada de professores em relação aos temas propostos, a abordagem dos temas muitas vezes acaba por limitar-se a datas específicas, de forma superficial e descontextualizada. Visando a correta e adequada difusão destas importantes temáticas que podem melhorar a qualidade de vida da sociedade, o presente estudo buscou diagnosticar como ocorre a abordagem das temáticas meio ambiente e saúde por professores(as) dos anos finais do Ensino Fundamental de quatro escolas municipais de Alegrete/RS.
