Consumption of processed and ultra-processed products and their impact on adult health

Resumo: The daily life of modern life has demanded more practicality and agility in routine activities, also affecting people's diet, in terms of food choice. In this sense, processed and ultra-processed products have gained prominence in consumption, either because of the ease and reduction in the time to prepare these foods. One of the problems surrounding high consumption is the triggering of Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases, such as diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, cardiovascular disease, obesity and metabolic disorders. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze the impact of consumption of processed and ultra-processed products on the health of adults. For this, an integrative literature review was carried out, in the time frame between 2011 and 2021 and with results on the growth of food industries, high consumption of these foods, their classification and the negative impacts they bring to adulthood. So, the conclusions highlight the importance of raising awareness among the population around the issue, the harm to the body, which can be avoided in a simple way, such as replacing it with healthy foods.

En este sentido, los productos procesados ​​y ultraprocesados ​​han ganado protagonismo en el consumo, ya sea por la facilidad y reducción en el tiempo para preparar estos alimentos. Uno de los problemas que rodean al alto consumo es el desencadenamiento de Enfermedades Crónicas No Transmisibles, como enfermedades del tracto gastrointestinal, enfermedades cardiovasculares, obesidad y trastornos metabólicos. Por tanto, el objetivo de este estudio fue analizar el impacto del consumo de productos procesados ​​y ultraprocesados ​​en la salud de los adultos. Para ello, se realizó una revisión integradora de la literatura, en el marco temporal entre 2011 y 2021 y con resultados sobre el crecimiento de las industrias alimentarias, el alto consumo de estos alimentos, su clasificación y los impactos negativos que traen a la edad adulta. Así, las conclusiones resaltan la importancia de concienciar a la población en torno al tema, el daño al organismo, que se puede evitar de una forma sencilla, como su sustitución por alimentos saludables.O cotidiano da vida moderna tem demandado mais praticidade e agilidade nas atividades realizadas na rotina, afetando também a alimentação das pessoas, em termos de escolha de alimentos. Nesse sentido, os produtos processados e ultraprocessados tem ganhado destaque de consumo, seja pela facilidade e pela diminuição de tempo de preparo desses alimentos. Um dos problemas em torno do alto consumo está no desencadeamento de Doenças Crônicas Não Transmissíveis, como doenças no aparelho gastrointestinal, doenças cardiovasculares, obesidade e distúrbios metabólicos. Portanto, o objetivo do presente estudo foi analisar o impacto do consumo de produtos processados e ultraprocessados na saúde dos adultos. Para isso, uma revisão integrativa de literatura foi realizada, no recorte temporal entre 2011 e 2021 e com resultados sobre o crescimento das indústrias alimentícias, alto consumo desses alimentos, sua classificação e os impactos negativos que trazem para a vida adulta.
