Profile of students and professors of health courses at a federal institution in the Northeastern Brazil

Resumo: | Objective: To describe the profile of students and professors of undergraduate courses in health sciences at an institution in Northeastern Brazil. Methods: It consists of a cross-sectional, descriptive and quantitative study that used a questionnaire available online, developed by the researchers and validated by the Face Validity method. The questionnaire was applied between March and June 2020. Results: 123 students and 36 professors participated in the research. Considering the students, 81.3% were female, 62.6% declared themselves brown, 79.6% were aged between 18 and 22 years. In addition, 95.9% had previous pedagogical experience with traditional teaching. considering the teachers, 69.4% were female, 50% declared themselves white and 27.8% were aged between 30 and 34 years. In addition, 61.1% studied at private educational institutions, 66.7% were doctors and 75% had previous pedagogical experience with traditional teaching. Conclusion: It is possible to observe that the profile of students and teachers described is heterogeneous and may portray the educational and socioeconomic context in which individuals from this higher education institution are involved. |

Métodos: Consiste en un estudio transversal, descriptivo y cuantitativo que utilizó un cuestionario disponible en línea, elaborado por los investigadores y validado por el método Face Validity. El cuestionario se aplicó entre marzo y junio de 2020. Resultados: Participaron de la encuesta 123 estudiantes y 36 docentes. En cuanto a los estudiantes, el 81,3% eran del sexo femenino, el 62,6% se declararon morenos, el 79,6% tenían entre 18 y 22 años. Además, el 95,9% tenía experiencia pedagógica previa con la enseñanza tradicional. De los profesores, 69,4% eran del sexo femenino, 50% se declararon blancos y 27,8% tenían entre 30 y 34 años. Además, el 61,1% estudió en instituciones educativas privadas, el 66,7% tenía doctorados y el 75% tenía experiencia pedagógica previa con la enseñanza tradicional. Conclusión: Es posible observar que el perfil de estudiantes y profesores descrito es heterogéneo y puede retratar el contexto educativo y socioeconómico en el que se encuentran involucrados los individuos de esta institución de educación superior.Objetivo: Descrever o perfil de discentes e docentes de cursos de graduação em ciências da saúde em uma instituição no Nordeste brasileiro. Métodos: Consiste em um estudo transversal, descritivo e quantitativo que utilizou um questionário disponibilizado de forma online, elaborado pelos pesquisadores e validado pelo método Face Validity. O questionário foi aplicado entre março e junho de 2020. Resultados: 123 discentes e 36 docentes participaram da pesquisa. Considerando os discentes, 81,3% eram do sexo feminino, 62,6% se autodeclararam pardos, 79,6% tinham idade entre 18 e 22 anos. Além disso, 95,9% apresentavam experiência pedagógica anterior com ensino tradicional. Considerando os docentes, 69,4% eram do sexo feminino, 50% se autodeclararam brancos e 27,8% tinham idade entre 30 e 34 anos. Além disso, 61,1% estudaram em instituições particulares de ensino, 66,7% eram doutores e 75% apresentavam experiência pedagógica anterior com o ensino tradicional.
