Perceptions of teachers and students about interprofessional education in an undergraduate course in Physiotherapy

Resumo: | Interprofessional Education (IPE) is characterized by learning two or more professions with, for and about the other. Its aim is to improve teamwork collaboration and the quality of care. The objective of the study was to analyze the perceptions of professors and students about IPE in the professional training process of an undergraduate course in Physiotherapy at a university in western Santa Catarina. This is a qualitative study, of the case study type, whose data collection instrument was an interview with professors and a focus group with students. The study population consisted of the coordinator, professors and students of the Physiotherapy Undergraduate Course at a community university in western Santa Catarina, totaling 20 participants. The analysis was performed based on thematic content analysis. After analysis, it was observed the need to expand IPE between courses, develop collaborative and teamwork skills, plan IPE in an integrated way and organize a curriculum for IPE, and finally, expand the teaching workload with a focus on the implementation of interprofessionality. With this, it was possible to observe that in this course the IPE is being implemented with specific actions, in a limited way. It was observed that IPE is an important strategy in developing a professional profile for teamwork. |

Su objetivo es mejorar la colaboración del trabajo en equipo y la calidad de la atención. El objetivo del estudio fue analizar las percepciones de profesores y alumnos sobre la EIP en el proceso de formación profesional de un curso de graduación en Fisioterapia de una universidad del oeste de Santa Catarina. Se trata de un estudio cualitativo, del tipo estudio de caso, cuyo instrumento de recolección de datos fue una entrevista con docentes y un grupo focal con estudiantes. La población de estudio estuvo compuesta por el coordinador, profesores y alumnos del Curso de Graduación en Fisioterapia de una universidad comunitaria en el oeste de Santa Catarina, totalizando 20 participantes. El análisis se realizó a partir del análisis de contenido temático. Después del análisis, hubo necesidad de ampliar la EIP entre cursos, desarrollar habilidades colaborativas y de trabajo en equipo, planificar la EIP de forma integrada y organizar un plan de estudios para la EIP y, finalmente, ampliar la carga de trabajo docente con un enfoque en la implementación de la interprofesionalidad. Con ello, se pudo observar que en este curso el EIP se está implementando con acciones puntuales, de forma limitada. Se observó que la EIP es una estrategia importante en el desarrollo de un perfil profesional para el trabajo en equipo.A Educação Interprofissional (EIP) se caracteriza pelo aprendizado de duas ou mais profissões com, para e sobre a outra. Seu objetivo é melhorar a colaboração no trabalho em equipe e a qualidade dos cuidados. O objetivo do estudo foi analisar as percepções de docentes e estudantes sobre a EIP no processo de formação profissional de um curso de graduação em Fisioterapia de uma universidade do oeste catarinense. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, do tipo estudo de caso, que teve como instrumento de coleta de dados uma entrevista com os docentes e um grupo focal com os estudantes. A população do estudo foi composta pelo coordenador, docentes e estudantes do Curso de Graduação em Fisioterapia de uma universidade comunitária do oeste de Santa Catarina, totalizando 20 participantes. A análise foi realizada a partir da análise de conteúdo temática. Após análise observou-se a necessidade de ampliar a EIP entre os cursos, desenvolver competências de trabalho colaborativo e em equipe, planejar a EIP de modo integrado e organizar um currículo para a EIP, e por fim, ampliar a carga horária docente com foco para a execução da interprofissionalidade. Com isso, foi possível observar que nesse curso a EIP está sendo implementada com ações pontuais, de forma limitada.
