Can popular science texts help the teacher to work with the Nature of Science in the early grades of elementary school?

Resumo: | Teaching Sciences nowadays does not limit itself to presenting scientific content to the students. The students must comprehend the way through which science is constructed, and its socio-cultural, political, and human aspects. In other words, it is necessary to approach the Nature of Science. Studies indicate that it should be taught explicitly by the teacher, and so that happens, it is necessary to use instructional materials in which NOS is present. In this article, we present a study that had a goal to analyze Popular Science Texts published in the journal Ciência Hoje das Crianças, regarding the presence of aspects of NOS and indicating pathways towards its usage in teaching. The analysis was carried out through Bardin's content analysis methodology. We have concluded that the analyzed TSD's present principles of NOS not in an explicit way, but can be used by the teacher during the teaching process of NOS since this type of text written by scientists and contextualized in multiple areas of the Natural Sciences can provide a more integral vision on science, provided that it is used critically and reflexively. |

En otras palabras, la Naturaleza de la Ciencia – NdC. Estudios indican que ella debe ser enseñada explícitamente por el maestro y para eso es preciso materiales didácticos en que la NdC esté presente. En este artículo, presentamos un estudio que tuvo como objetivo analizar Textos de Divulgación Científica publicizados en la revista Ciência Hoje das Crianças, sobre la presencia de aspectos de NdC e indicar formas de utilizarlos en su enseñanza. El análisis se realizó utilizando la metodología de análisis de contenido de Bardin. Concluimos que los TDC analizados presentan principios de la NdC no de manera explícita, pero que pueden ser utilizados por el maestro en la enseñanza de las NdC, ya que este tipo de textos escritos por científicos y contextualizados en diferentes áreas de las ciencias naturales, pueden dar una visión más integral de la ciencia, siempre que se utilice de manera crítica y reflexiva.Ensinar ciências hoje não é somente apresentar conteúdos científicos aos alunos, é preciso que os jovens compreendam a forma com a ciência é construída, seus aspectos socioculturais, políticos e humanos. Dito de outro forma a Natureza da Ciência (NdC). Estudos indicam que ela deve ser ensinada de forma explícita pelo professor e para isso é preciso materiais instrucionais em que a NdC esteja presente. Neste artigo, apresentamos um estudo que teve como objetivo analisar Textos de Divulgação Científica (TDC) publicados na revista Ciência Hoje das Crianças (CHC) quanto a presença de aspectos da NdC e indicando caminhos para que possam ser usados no seu ensino. A análise foi realizada pela metodologia de análise de conteúdo de Bardin.
