Sizing of a retaining structure in a wall reinforced with geosynthetics

Resumo: Taking advantage of embankments with steep slopes and great heights often means adopting more elaborate solutions, such as the application of geosynthetics in reinforced walls. This article presents the dimensioning of a wall reinforced with geosynthetic for stabilization of a slope located in the area of the Jordão Reservoir, Recife - Pernambuco, in order to alter the initial design of containment in gabion wall of the same embankment. The dimensioning of the reinforced wall is carried out considering the criteria in the analysis of the external and internal stability of the structure, and the proposal for alteration in the initial surface drainage project is also indicated so that the slope stability. In the analysis of external stability, there was a reinforcement length of 5,86 m, which met both the slip and tip safety factor. In the analysis of internal stability using the Jewell method (1991), a reinforcement length of 5,28 m was obtained. Then, adopting the longest reinforcement length among the results of the analyzes, obeying the minimum lengths required in all stability criteria. The results obtained showed that the wall reinforced with geosynthetic for stabilization of the slope Laser Electro and the geotechnical and geometric parameters involved were adequate to the project, being a safe solution for faces of the walls or more vertical slopes.

Este artículo presenta el dimensionamiento de un muro reforzado con geosintético para la estabilización de un talud ubicado en el área del Embalse de Jordão, Recife - Pernambuco, con el fin de alterar el diseño inicial de contención en muro de gaviones del mismo terraplén. El dimensionamiento del muro armado se realiza considerando los criterios en el análisis de la estabilidad externa e interna de la estructura, y también se indica la propuesta de alteración en el proyecto de drenaje superficial inicial para que la estabilidad del talud. En el análisis de estabilidad exterior, se encontró una longitud de refuerzo de 5,86 m, que cumplió tanto con el factor de seguridad para deslizamientos como para vuelco. En el análisis de estabilidad interna mediante el método de Jewell (1991), se obtuvo una longitud de refuerzo de 5,28 m. Luego, adoptando la longitud de refuerzo más larga entre los resultados de los análisis, obedeciendo las longitudes mínimas requeridas en todos los criterios de estabilidad. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron que el muro reforzado con geosintético para estabilización del talud Laser Electro y los parámetros geotécnicos y geométricos involucrados fueron adecuados al proyecto, siendo una solución segura para paramentos de los muros o taludes más verticales.Aproveitar áreas de taludes com inclinações acentuadas e grandes alturas muitas vezes significa adotar soluções mais elaboradas, como a aplicação de geossintéticos em muros reforçados. Este artigo apresenta o dimensionamento de um muro reforçado com geossintético para estabilização de uma encosta localizada na área do Reservatório do Jordão, Recife – Pernambuco, com objetivo de alterar o projeto inicial de contenção em muro de gabião do mesmo talude. O dimensionamento do muro reforçado é realizado considerando os critérios na análise da estabilidade externa e interna da estrutura, sendo também indicada a proposta de alteração no projeto inicial de drenagem superficial para que a estabilidade da encosta. Na análise da estabilidade externa, verificou-se um comprimento do reforço de 5,86 m, que atendia tanto ao fator de segurança ao deslizamento como ao tombamento. Na análise da estabilidade interna pelo método de Jewell (1991) obteve-se um comprimento de reforço de 5,28 m. Adotando-se então o maior comprimento de reforço entre os resultados das análises obedecendo os comprimentos mínimos exigidos em todos os critérios de estabilidade.
