The racist reaction of the elites against the university quota system

This article aims to reflect on the racism suffered by student quota holders in Brazilian higher education. The methodology used was: bibliographic study, constituted in the light of works already published consulted in books and also in the electronic media via the worldwide computer network with consultations carried out at the mining base of UFRJ, google scholar and scielo. The research criterion was through keywords such as racism, racial quotas and racism in universities. It is a descriptive study, because it proposes to present the scenario of an existing reality without changing it. The analysis was performed qualitatively. The article investigated in the theoretical framework, how students from racial quotas travel in higher education institutions, and presents the following results: the racial issue in Brazil has made some progress especially when considering the Anti-Racism Law; the quota system itself;  discussion and reflection on the subject in the agenda of various social spaces. The conclusion of the Study was that a satisfactory level of social equality has not yet been reached, because the academy itself, which should foster and strengthen the discourse and practice of social equality and equity of access to education, often discriminates against them. Thus, in Higher Education, the quota system that emerged as a public policy aimed at assisting in repairing damage caused to blacks has become an object of racism.
