CHILDHOOD EDUCATION IN ALAGOAS AT FABRIC FACTORIES BETWEEN 1930 AND 1970

This article presents the main modes of early childhood education from 0 to 6 years old in fabric factories, which were established in Alagoas between the mid-19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The existence of day care centers and kindergartens in the textile industries is mentioned in the oral reports, but there is no access to documents, nor is there systematized information. The methodological path, based on oral history, involved the search for informants through the Snowball technique, and conducting interviews with figures that make up this history, in addition to documentary research. It exposes a brief overview of the Alagoan textile-factory universe composed of 13 fabric factories and presents the history of childhood education in four of these factories located in three municipalities in Alagoas: Delmiro Gouveia, Maceió and Rio Largo, covering the period from 1930 to 1970. It is evident that these factories offered the education of children from 0 to 6 years old through day care centers and kindergartens long before early childhood education was a regulated municipal policy.
