This study aims to analyse a process of online continuing education of teachers in the primary school on teaching and learning Statistics. During four meetings, we reflected on the importance of developing research involving the phases of the investigative cycle and its viability through teaching practices in the school environment, considering the different types of teacher knowledge. We carried out a survey with the teachers about the use of the internet for teaching Statistics and they carried out a survey with their students about pets and reported it to the group. The entire training process took place online, thus favouring the participation of teachers in different states of Brazil. The training process promoted reflections for the teaching of Statistics based on experiences with research, expanding what can and should be taught by teachers in the early years about Statistics.
