Resumo: This work intents to present the resolutive formulas for polinomial equations until the 4th degree, and also shows some historical notes about the search and achievement of such formulas. We recall the historical impossibility of a solution formula for the equations of 5 th degree or greater. This work also has some teorical references on polinomials, equa tions and complex numbers wich are needed to better understand some of the resolutive formulas. We show some resolutive methods for specific equations of degree greater than 5. To the very end, we exibit an analysis concerning how the high school books treat this subject.

Retratamos a história da demonstração da impossibilidade de resolver equações de grau maior ou igual a 5. O trabalho conta também com um referencial teórico de polinômios, equações e números complexos que é necessário para compreender as fórmulas resolutivas. Mostramos algumas resoluções para equações polinomiais de graus maiores ou iguais a 5 em formatos específicos.
