Resumo: The article discusses the matter of the constitution of teaching professionalism in early childhood education, pointing out eight elements that constitute this professionalism, with a view to strengthening the identity, development and professional performance, also the consequent improvement of the quality of education offered to the children served in this segment. It also proposes a look at the formative processes and their relevance in this context.

Propone también una mirada sobre los procesos formativos y su relevancia en este contexto.O artigo tematiza a questão da constituição da profissionalidade docente na Educação Infantil, apontando oito elementos constitutivos desta profissionalidade, com vistas ao fortalecimento da identidade, desenvolvimento e atuação profissional, e a consequente melhoria da qualidade da educação oferecida às crianças atendidas neste segmento.
