LITERACY POLICY OF YOUTH AND ADULTS IN THE PERIOD OF MILITARY DICTATORSHIP (1970-1985): IMPACTS IN SERTÃO ALAGOANO

This article aims to present the narratives of the memories of the sertanejos[1], participants in the actions developed by the youth and adult literacy policy established by the Brazilian Literacy Movement, from 1970 to 1985, through the Financing Literacy Program.The speeches of the subjects involved were collected through interviews, and on the qualitative approach of oral history, based on the theoretical postulates of Alberti (2008), Portelli (2010) and Bosi (1994). We also privileged photography as a source of data collection (CARTIER-BRESSON, 1971; GURAN, 2011; LEITE, 1993). The analyses showed the relevance of this policy in the life of the sertanejos’ life, regardless if they were continued or not their studies, since all subjects interviewed recognized the program as the only opportunity for literacy.
