PHYSICAL-CHEMICAL AND MICROBIOLOGICAL QUALITY OF THE WATER FROM THE SPROUTS OF THE HYDROGRAPHIC BASIN OF THE CORURIPE RIVER, ALAGOAS-BRASIL

Resumo: | Watersheds have been suffering increasing environmental degradation, such as lack of riparian vegetation and erosion of riverbanks. It is fundamental that such regions be monitored to have an integrated survey that allows the maintenance of its quality. This work aimed to evaluate the water quality of the springs of the Coruripe river basin, on the south coast of Alagoas, Brazil. For water analysis, the following parameters were evaluated: appearance, taste, odor, true color, temperature, pH, alkalinity, total hardness, turbidity, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, biochemical oxygen demand, total phosphates, total nitrites, total nitrates, total sulfates, total chlorides, total iron and coliforms (total and thermotolerant). When comparing the results obtained with the standard references of quality recommended in the resolution of the Brazilian Ministry of the Environment (CONAMA) 357/2005 and/or in the ordinance of the Brazilian Ministry of Health 2914/2011, it was verified that, except for the pH, the physical and chemical parameters of all samplings showed values compatible with the limits established for class 2 fresh waters. Most samples showed bacteria from the coliform group, but none of them showed thermotolerant coliforms, which are related to fecal contamination. The calculation of the water quality index allowed classifying them as of good and reasonable quality, concluding that the springs met the potability standards of the Brazilian legislation. Therefore, proper management is very important, as well as mitigating actions for already impacted areas of the watershed, including municipal policies that seek to preserve and increase the flow of watercourses. |

Es fundamental que dichas regiones sean monitoreadas para tener una encuesta integrada que permita el mantenimiento de su calidad. Este trabajo tuvo como objetivo evaluar la calidad del agua de los manantiales de la cuenca del río Coruripe, en la costa sur de Alagoas, Brasil. Para el análisis del agua se evaluaron los siguientes parámetros: apariencia, sabor, olor, color verdadero, temperatura, pH, alcalinidad, dureza total, turbidez, conductividad eléctrica, sólidos disueltos totales, demanda bioquímica de oxígeno, fosfatos totales, nitritos totales, nitratos totales, sulfatos totales, cloruros totales, hierro total y coliformes (totales y termotolerantes). Al comparar los resultados obtenidos con las referencias estándar de calidad recomendadas en la resolución del Ministerio del Ambiente (CONAMA) 357/2005 y/o en la ordenanza del Ministerio de Salud 2914/2011, se verificó que, a excepción del pH , los parámetros físicos y químicos de todos los muestreos tuvieron valores compatibles con los límites establecidos para aguas dulces de clase 2. La mayoría de las muestras tenían bacterias del grupo de los coliformes, pero ninguna mostró coliformes termotolerantes, que están relacionados con la contaminación fecal. El cálculo del índice de calidad del agua permitió clasificarlas como de buena y razonable calidad, concluyendo que los manantiales cumplían con los estándares de potabilidad de la legislación brasileña. Por lo tanto, es muy importante un manejo adecuado, así como acciones mitigadoras para áreas de la cuenca ya impactadas, incluyendo políticas municipales que busquen preservar y aumentar el caudal de los cursos de agua.As bacias hidrográficas vêm sofrendo crescente degradação ambiental, como falta de vegetação ciliar e erosão das margens dos rios. É fundamental que tais regiões sejam monitoradas para se dispor de um levantamento integrado que permita a manutenção de sua qualidade. Este trabalho visou avaliar a qualidade das águas das nascentes da bacia hidrográfica do rio Coruripe, no litoral sul de Alagoas, Brasil. Para as análises da água, foram avaliados os seguintes parâmetros: aspecto, gosto, odor, cor verdadeira, temperatura, pH, alcalinidade, dureza total, turbidez, condutividade elétrica, sólidos totais dissolvidos, demanda bioquímica de oxigênio, fosfatos totais, nitritos totais, nitratos totais, sulfatos totais, cloretos totais, ferro total e coliformes (totais e termotolerantes). Ao comparar os resultados obtidos com as referências padrão de qualidade preconizadas na resolução do Ministério do Meio Ambiente (CONAMA) 357/2005 e/ou na portaria do Ministério da Saúde 2.914/2011, verificou-se que, exceto para o pH, os parâmetros físico-químicos de todas as amostragens apresentaram valores compatíveis com os limites estabelecidos para classe 2 de águas doces. A maioria das amostras apresentou bactérias do grupo coliformes, mas em nenhuma detectou-se coliformes termotolerantes, que são os relacionados a contaminação fecal. O cálculo do índice de qualidade de águas permitiu classificá-las como de qualidade boa e razoável, concluindo-se que as nascentes atenderam aos padrões de potabilidade da legislação brasileira.
