STRATEGIC BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY: AN APPLIED STUDY IN A FOOD AND BEVERAGE COMPANY IN THE STATE OF SÃO PAULO

Resumo: The concept of sustainability in the context of business management is a relevant and challenging aspect, as it includes, in addition to financial, social and environmental aspects. The aim of this work was to analyze two studies that seek to relate the actions of Strategic Business Planning (PEE), in each of the perspectives of the Balanced ScoreCard (BSC), with the dimensions of sustainability (economic, social and environmental) and to evaluate the application of this relationship in a large food and beverage company. Consulting the literature on sustainability, there are few works that unite the concepts of PEE, BSC and sustainability and no evidence of practical applications in the business world was found to validate whether the proposed studies are adequate and whether they can be improved. The methodology used was an applied research of an exploratory and qualitative nature and the application of the studies was developed through documental analysis. With the application it was verified that they are complementary, as they bring relevant contributions in the relationship between PEE, BSC and the dimensions of sustainability. As suggestions for improvements, the creation of a general sustainability indicator for one of the studies is proposed, and the joint application of the two models that can contribute to providing the development of the PEE more complete and that strongly contributes to thinking about sustainability in a more balanced way together to business strategies.

Dado este contexto, este artículo tiene como objetivo discutir los impactos del cambio climático en la sociedad, las industrias y los sectores económicos. El tema en cuestión fue elegido debido a la ausencia de trabajos que aborden este tema y sus objetivos son: discutir el desarrollo sostenible, la sostenibilidad y el cambio climático; identificar los impactos que el cambio climático provoca en la sociedad y la industria; verificar el desempeño de las empresas ante los efectos del cambio climático y analizar los sectores económicos más afectados por el cambio climático. En cuanto a la metodología, la investigación tiene un enfoque cualitativo, en relación a su naturaleza se considera aplicada y en cuanto al objetivo se clasifica en exploratoria y descriptiva. El estudio concluyó que el cambio climático afecta realmente a la sociedad, las industrias y los sectores económicos. Los sectores más afectados por el cambio climático son la agricultura, la energía y el transporte. Entre estos, la agricultura es el sector económico más afectado por el cambio climático, y ya está siendo impactado por varias consecuencias dañinas.O conceito de sustentabilidade no contexto da gestão empresarial é um aspecto relevante e desafiador, pois traz em pauta, além dos aspectos financeiros, o social e o ambiental. Buscou- se nesse trabalho analisar dois estudos que procuram relacionar as ações do Planejamento Estratégico Empresarial (PEE), em cada uma das perspectivas do Balanced ScoreCard (BSC), com as dimensões da sustentabilidade (econômica, social e ambiental) e avaliar a aplicação dessa relação em uma grande empresa de alimentos e bebidas. Consultando a literatura sobre sustentabilidade, existem poucos trabalhos que unem os conceitos de PEE, BSC e sustentabilidade e não foram encontradas evidências de aplicações práticas no mundo empresarial que validem se os estudos propostos são adequados e se podem ser melhorados. A metodologia utilizada foi uma pesquisa aplicada de caráter exploratório e qualitativa e a aplicação dos estudos foi desenvolvido por meio de análise documental. Com a aplicação verificou-se que eles são complementares, pois trazem relevantes contribuições na relação entre PEE, BSC e as dimensões da sustentabilidade.
