Resumo: Geography is important to think and seize the different spatiality. Geographic knowledge enables students to locate themselves consciously in a complex and rapidly changing world. Teaching geography at schools leads students to broaden the understanding of the reality, and it supports them to interfere in their daily lives in a conscious and purposeful way. In light of this, this term paper aims to analyze the Urban Geobraphy teaching contributions to the education of high school students, considering the specific theme and concepts presented in the official curriculum, such The National Curricular Parameters (PCNs) and São Paulo Official Curriculum, as well as the resources used at the public schools in São Paulo, such as O Caderno do Professor e do Aluno. The research was based in a case study in the second year classes at the high school Professor Elias de Mello Ayres, located in Piracicaba, São Paulo. Specific situation of Urban Geography learning was analyzed during the school year. Thus, through a questionnaire it was possible to perceive the transformation in the critical thinking of students about urban issues and the city in which they live

O ensino escolar de geografia leva ao estudante a compreensão de uma realidade mais ampla e a possibilidade de interferir de forma mais consciente e propositiva em seu cotidiano. Diante disso o presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar as contribuições do ensino de Geografia urbana na formação do aluno no ensino médio, considerando as temáticas e os conceitos específicos desta área presentes nos currículos oficiais, tais como os Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCN'S) e o Currículo Oficial do Estado de São Paulo, bem como nos materiais de apoio utilizados na rede pública paulista, como o Caderno do Professor e do Aluno. A pesquisa fundamentou-se em um estudo de caso com as classes do segundo ano de ensino médio da escola Professor Elias de Mello Ayres, localizada em Piracicaba - SP, do qual foram analisadas as situações de aprendizagens especificas de Geografia urbana, desenvolvidas no decorrer do ano letivo.
