The use of mathematical modeling is a challenge for teachers and students. Among teachers there is a need for adaptation to new teaching methods, already among students being stimulated by these new ways of learning mathematics. Here we present the report and analysis of a work involving the mathematical modeling in conjunction with Digital Technology, through the development of an activity with a group of students, in the counter shift, of a school of the State Education Network. The main objective of the work was to provide the student with an opportunity to understand that Mathematics is part of their daily life, in an attempt to approach the content of quadratic functions in a practical way. Developed with a qualitative approach, through a case study, our research verified how students' understanding of quadratic functions is shown and what can be done to obtain better results using mathematical modeling with digital technology. We verified that an activity of this nature contributes to the students' understanding of quadratic functions, but the technology itself does not provide improvements, there is then the need for an effective work of the teacher in the conduction of the mathematical modeling process
