Resumo: The main objective of this work was to analyze the development of the ceramic pole in the process of urbanization and the consequences of urban growth for the green areas of the city of Santa Gertrudes. For the execution of this proposal, scientific researches were considered that were already elaborated, in order to verify the representative period of the intense development of the ceramic activity, as well as the reflections of this economic growth in the process of urbanization. Also, the interpretation of images of remote sensors was performed, covering two scenarios: one prior to the more marked development of the ceramic pole (1995s) and another recent one (2010), mapping the urban area and vegetation Existing in these two periods. In a comparative way, the growth of the Santa Gertrudes ceramic industry was measured, as well as the vegetation areas, analyzing the effects of this process on the degradation of the green areas of the city. In addition, fieldwork was carried out to verify the veracity of thematic mappings and to characterize the degraded areas. Thus, the results obtained in this research allowed the formation of a digital database, which could serve as an important instrument for the municipal management related to the degradation of vegetation, providing subsidies for the improvement of the inspection and monitoring of the green areas of the city Of Santa Gertrudes / SP

Para a execução desta proposta foram consideradas pesquisas cientificas já elaboradas, a fim de verificar o período representativo do intenso desenvolvimento da atividade cerâmica, bem como os reflexos deste crescimento econômico no processo de urbanização. Também, foi realizada a interpretação de imagens de sensores remotos, abrangendo-se dois cenários: um anterior ao desenvolvimento mais acentuado do polo cerâmico (década de 1990) e outro recente (década de 2010), mapeando-se a área urbana e a vegetação existente nestes dois períodos. De modo comparativo, foi realizada a mensuração do crescimento da indústria cerâmica de Santa Gertrudes, bem como das áreas de vegetação, analisando-se os reflexos deste processo na degradação das áreas verdes da cidade. Ainda, foram realizados trabalhos de campo para verificar a veracidade dos mapeamentos temáticos e para caracterizar as áreas degradadas.
