Resumo: The brake is one of the main safety systems applied to stop mechanisms. Thus, the automotive brake system was applied to off-road off-road vehicles designed for normal and rugged terrain, which requires a lot of system efficiency. The objective of this work is to carry out a procedure to assist participants in the Baja SAE Brasil project at all academic levels to elaborate the selection of components for a light vehicle called Baja, with characteristics off-road use, used in an academic competition held by SAE BRAZIL. For this, the stages of planning and project design were applied according to the design methodology in engineering described by Pahl and Beitz 2013, developing their concept and thus simplifying the design of the brake system, aiming at the reduction of components, maintenance, innovation in types of materials applied to the system components and assembly time. This project requires that its components have high performance, durability, reliability, and that they meet the requirements requested in the regulations prepared by the competition organization. After discarding solutions demonstrated in this work, it resulted in a solution variant, which had guided the development of the brake system. Therefore, the procedure will lead to the elaboration of a brake system procedure for the Baja SAE Brasil vehicle.

Assim, o sistema de freio automotivo foram aplicado em veículos fora de estrada “off-road” projetado para terrenos normais e acidentados, o que exige muita eficiência do sistema. O objetivo deste trabalho é realizar um procedimento para auxiliar participantes do projeto Baja SAE Brasil de todos os níveis academicos a elaborar a seleção de componentes para um veículo leve denominado Baja, com características de uso Off-Road, utilizado em uma competição realizada pela SAE BRASIL. Para isso foi aplicado as etapas de planejamento e concepção de projeto conforme metodologia de projeto na engenharia descrita por Pahl e Beitz 2013, desenvolvendo seu conceito e simplificando assim, o projeto do sistema de freio, visando a redução de componentes, manutenção, inovação em tipos de materiais aplicados nos componentes do sistema e demostrando alto desempenho, durabilidade, confiabilidade, e que preencham os requisitos solicitados no regulamento elaborado pela organização da competição. Após descarte de soluções demostrados neste trabalho, resultou em uma variante de solução, que orientara o desenvolvimento do sistema de freio.
