The Sex Worker’s Work in the Streets and Bars of the City

Resumo: This article shows the differences and singularities of the sex workers’s (SW) situations in the central fair and in the bars of the city Campina Grande‑PB. It was used collective interviews techniques, general observation and work systematization. 23 feminine SW took part in the research. The results show that the central fair is the labor place and home to many SW, some of them with children. The activity showed paradoxical in itself. The profession propitiates pleasure and support, however, there is violence practice against the SW. The drinks are pointed as facilitators to the activity. The rooms where are made the programs are insalubrious with several factors of risk. The use of the preservatives is forgotten in several situations, what potentiates the risk of contracting STDs/Aids. Through this work, the SW gets survival and satisfaction of the material needs, but they demonstrate a certain kind of suffering configured by anguish and contempt because of certain profession practices.

Para ello, se utilizaron técnicas de entrevistas colectivas, observación general y sistemática del trabajo. Participaron 23 PS del género femenino. Los resultados muestran que el mercado central es un lugar de trabajo y de residencia para muchas de las mujeres inclusive sus hijos. La actividad es paradoxal. La profesión propicia placeres y sustento para ellas, aunque sufran violencia de género. La realización de la actividad es amenizada por el consumo de alcohol. Las habitaciones donde se realiza el trabajo son insalubres y presentan diversos riesgos. El uso del preservativo es en muchas ocasiones ignorado, hecho que potencializa el riesgo de contraer ETS/SIDA. Con este trabajo, las PS consiguen subsistir y satisfacer sus necesidades materiales, pero a la vez manifiestan sufrimiento, expresado por la angustia y desprecio de algunas de las prácticas de la profesión.Este artigo objetiva apresentar as diferenças e as singularidades das situações de trabalho das profissionais do sexo (PS), na feira central e nos bares da cidade de Campina Grande-PB. Para isso, empregaram-se técnicas de entrevistas coletivas, observação geral e sistemática do trabalho. Participaram 23 PS do gênero feminino. Os resultados mostram que a feira central é um lócus de labuta e de residência para muitas dessas mulheres, inclusive com filhos. A atividade mostrou-se paradoxal. A profissão propicia prazeres e o sustento, porém existe a prática da violência contra as PS. A bebida é evidenciada como um facilitador para a realização da atividade. Os quartos onde realizam o programa são insalubres, com diversos fatores de riscos. O uso do preservativo é negligenciado em diversas situações, o que potencializa o risco de contrair DST/AIDS.
