Inclusion of People with Disabilities in the Workplace: Perception of University Students

Resumo: Perceptions of employment opportunities for people with disabilities (PwD) have been a widely discussed topic. The aim of this study was to analyze the associations between the ways in which the university perceive disabilities, antecedent factors – such as knowledge about disabilities and previous experience – and trust. The study was conducted with 800 students from four public universities, located in Minas Gerais. It was used the Conceptions of Disability Inventory, the survey of trust, and the sociodemographic questionnaire. It was found that perceptions about disability are associated with living with PwD with trust, as well as graduation. We conclude that determine the perception of the university on PwD brings important contributions to training, it assists in identifying issues that, if addressed, may influence the improvement of professional actions, and organizational policies related to disability.

El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar la asociación entre las formas en que la universidad percibe discapacidad, losfactores antecedentes – como el conocimiento acerca de las discapacidades y la experiência previa – y la confianza. El estudio se realizó con 800 estudiantes de cuatro universidades públicas, con sede en Minas Gerais. Utilizamos las concepciones de la discapacidad y una encuesta de confianza de la historia. Se encontró que las percepciones sobre la discapacidad se asocian a vivir con PcD con confianza, así como la graduación. Concluimos que determinan la percepción de la universidad en PcD trae importantes contribuciones a la formación, ayuda en la identificación de problemas que, de abordarse, pueden influir en la mejora de las acciones profesionales y políticas de la organización relacionados con la discapacidad.As percepções sobre as possibilidades de trabalho das pessoas com deficiência (PcDs) têm sido um tema amplamente discutido. O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar as possíveis associações entre as formas pelas quais os universitários percebem a deficiência, os fatores antecedentes – como conhecimento sobre a deficiência e experiência prévia – e a confiança. O estudo foi conduzido com 800 universitários, de quatro universidades públicas, localizadas em Minas Gerais. Utilizaram-se o Inventário de Concepções de Deficiência, um questionário de confiança e um questionário de caracterização sociodemográfica. Constatou-se que as percepções sobre a deficiência associam-se com o convívio com PcDs, com a confiança e com a formação acadêmica.
