Diversidade fenotípica e estimativas de parâmetros genéticos em subamostras de feijão-fava

Lima bean (Phaseolus lunatus L.), belonging to the Fabaceae family, is a species adapted to the semiarid region, cultivated mainly by small farmers in the Northeast region of Brazil, and constitutes an alternative income and source of food for the population. This legume has agronomic characteristics that allow its development in different environments, besides the wide variability concerning color, shape, and size in the seeds. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate phenotypic diversity based on agronomic and morphological characteristics, estimating genetic parameters of 16 subsamples of lima beans from the germplasm collection of the Department of Agronomy at the UFRPE. The experiment was carried out by randomized block design with three replications and each plot consisted of a 4.8m line, with four plants per experimental unit. Qualitative and quantitative characters were evaluated during the vegetative and reproductive phases of the crop. The data were submitted to analysis of variance (P <0.01) and then, the UPGMA grouping method was adopted using the generalized Mahalanobis distance (D2) as a measure of dissimilarity. The evaluated subsamples represent the two domestication centers: Mesoamerican and Andean. The subsample S5 showed precocity, large seed, and satisfactory commercial pattern.
