Resolução de uma situação-problema sobre radioterapia para construção de conceitos de radioatividade no ensino superior de química

This study intends to research how resolution of a problem situation using elements from teaching through research approach contributes to concepts construction related to radioactivity. To compose the didactic proposal we used a cartoon, two simulations, theoretical classes and a adapted text, in order to improve discussions on the issue in the problem situation proposed and to allow the construction of concepts needed to answer it. For data collection and construction we used two ways of record: notes and videography. Participants were 21 students from 5th to 9th period Degree in Chemistry at the Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco - Academic Unit of Serra Talhada and a professor at the same institution The data were analyzed qualitatively using quantitative data to systematize the results. During all stages it was possible to observe the participation of students in an environment of constant construction and reconstruction of knowledge. With the raising of hypotheses was possible to realize the student’s representations regarding to the issue of problem situation, after activities, could construct a final answer, a result of the conclusion of the group. The answers given to the problem situation show undergraduates have used the information brought by all the teaching tools available. Participants highlighted the collaborative work, the construction of knowledge and the desire for research as some of the relevant points that this approach provides. The construction of the problem situation from a situation adapted from a real context is a good alternative for building concepts of radioactivity, because allows the development of this subject and the construction of knowledge from the point of view of various aspects of chemical knowledge.
