Resumo: The skin is the largest organ in the human body, considered a protective barrier and are subject to factors that cause loss of skin integrity, resulting in wounds. These injuries can become chronic, directly interfering with quality of life of patients. Considering the number of people suffering from chronic wounds, the aim of this study was to analyze the quality of life of patients with chronic wounds treated at Basic Health Units (BHU) in the city of Campo Mourao, Parana. It was a crosssectional study with all patients with chronic wounds treated at UBS in the city, making the characterization of the population through semi-structured questionnaire and assessment of quality of life by WHOQOL-Bref. The scores were scored using the Excel program, configured as a tool for calculating the scores and statistics. We interviewed 57 people, divided into three groups according to the time of presentation of the wound, where one group corresponds to patients who have wounds less than one year, the two groups, between one and five years and the group with three wounds to more than six years. There was a predominance of elderly patients were female (66.66%), white (75.7%), illiterate (57.9%), with an income of three minimum wages (91%) and living alone ( 73.6%). Only 8.8% were alcoholics and 31% smokers. The main causes of injury are vasculogenic ulcers (61.4%) and diabetic complications (19.3%). The quality of life of patients is affected as well, with no scores greater than 75. In the physical, psychological and social quality of life is lowered regardless of the number of years of presence in the area of the wound and the environment, as the years with the presence of the wound will increase, further worsening the quality of life, requiring that so there is a holistic service to patients and not just focused on skin lesion.

Made available in DSpace on 2015-09-14T09:17:46Z (GMT).
