Resumo:  This paper presents some notes on the role of Philosophy in the school education. It brings some elements about the contribution of Philosophy to the primary, secondary and higher education, and focuses on the role of humanistic education in relation to technical education. The contributions of Philosophy to the construction of knowledge are unquestionable, even when the school deals with the production of scientific knowledge, highly valued in the contemporary society. Parallelly to the world of Science, man continues to search for answers about life and its meaning, and the object of Philosophy is to deal with this search for answers concerning man’s "amazement" towards the world. In this sense, the role of Philosophy in the school education is of the highest importance; however, it is often concealed for the sake of Science, understood as the only possibility to obtain the answers to all the questions in order to provide us a better and happier life. This paper is therefore based on the conflict between the scientific and humanistic perspectives and presents the contributions of Philosophy to school education.

This paper is therefore based on the conflict between the scientific and humanistic perspectives and presents the contributions of Philosophy to school education.  O presente artigo apresenta alguns apontamentos a respeito do papel da Filosofia na formação escolar. Traz elementos a respeito de sua contribuição na escola de ensino fundamental, médio e superior, principalmente discutindo o papel da formação humana associada a formação técnica. As contribuições da Filosofia na construção do conhecimento são inegáveis, inclusive quando se trata da produção do conhecimento científico, tão exaltado na contemporaneidade. Paralelo ao mundo da Ciência, o homem continua a buscar respostas a respeito da vida e de seu sentido. A Filosofia faz da busca por respostas frente ao "espanto" do homem com o mundo seu objeto de trabalho. Neste sentido seu papel na formação escolar está revestido de profundo e inegável valor sendo, porém, em muitos casos, escamoteada para que a Ciência seja entendida como capaz de trazer a resposta para todas as coisas que nos permitam viver melhor e mais felizes. No embate entre a perspectiva cientificista e humanista é que este trabalho busca seu assento apresentando a Filosofia e suas contribuições na formação escolar.
