Building democratic management in a school of early childhood education: analysis of development strategies of a team meeting

Resumo: It has been a challenge for education systems and institutions of early childhood education the achievement of daily actions and the principles of democratic management. Even today, some managers’ practice seems to prioritize bureaucratic and administrative aspects at the expense of cooperative job coordination. This article seeks to reflect on possible conditions and strategies that can facilitate managers’ action, specifically in the development of meetings (administrative or pedagogical) and contribute to the achievement of teamwork from the perspective of a democratic managing. In this article, we began discussing the challenge of democratic management, focusing on the perspective of early childhood education and addressing the specific action of the managers in the school. Following, we delimited actions of management in the organization of the meeting, considering them as training environments. Database was constructed from the observation of a staff meeting and from the interview with the director of the researched institution. Finally, considerations affirming the possibility and necessity of taking strategies that enhance their collective work, provided that the manager takes his role as articulator and staff act with commitment and engagement on common objectives. Well-structured pedagogical meetings, with time and space appropriated and that ensure the participation of all around the achievement of the same goals, may be the way to make better use of the meetings at school.

Ainda hoje a prática de alguns gestores parece priorizar aspectos burocráticos e administrativos em detrimento da atuação focada na coordenação de uma equipe composta por pessoas em torno de um trabalho coletivo. Este artigo busca refletir sobre possíveis condições e estratégias que podem facilitar a ação dos gestores, especificamente, no desenvolvimento de reuniões (administrativas ou pedagógicas) e contribuir para a realização de um trabalho em equipe na perspectiva de uma gestão democrática. No presente artigo, iniciamos discutindo sobre o desafio da gestão democrática, focando a perspectiva da Educação Infantil e abordando a ação específica dos gestores na unidade. Seguimos delimitando ações da gestão na organização dos eventos de reunião, considerando-os enquanto ambientes formativos. A base de dados foi construída a partir da observação de uma reunião de equipe e da entrevista com a diretora da instituição pesquisada. Por fim, tecemos considerações afirmando a possibilidade e necessidade de assumir estratégias que favoreçam o trabalho coletivo, desde que o gestor assuma seu papel de articulador e a equipe atue com compromisso e envolvimento em objetivos comuns.
