THE USE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN THE TEACHING OF MATHEMATICS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Resumo: This research aimed to analyze the digital technologies used by mathematics teachers during remote teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic, describing the activities developed and exposing the potential and limitations of these technologies. The study consisted of a qualitative-quantitative approach of a descriptive and exploratory nature. As a data collection instrument, an online questionnaire was used, consisting of ten questions that were answered by 34 mathematics teachers from municipal, state and private schools in the city of Petrolina - PE. The questions dealt with the technological tools used, guidance or training for the use of these tools and the intention to continue using digital technologies after the pandemic. According to the teachers, activities on digital platforms were diverse and comprehensive, with the use of various tools such as WhatsApp, Google Classroom, Google Meet, Google Forms, YouTube, Instagram, Canva and Padlet. The main capabilities of these tools were agile communication with students and provision of study materials. However, limitations were also identified such as lack of access to devices and internet, fatigue due to excessive time in front of screens, difficulty maintaining attention in online classes and adapting to new technologies.

El estudio se constituyó con un enfoque cuali-cuantitativo de naturaleza descriptiva y exploratoria. Como instrumento de recolección de datos se utilizó un cuestionario en línea compuesto por diez preguntas que fueron respondidas por 34 profesores de matemáticas de la red municipal, estatal y privada de enseñanza de la ciudad de Petrolina - PE. Las preguntas trataban sobre las herramientas tecnológicas utilizadas, orientación o capacitación para el uso de estas herramientas y la intención de continuar utilizando las tecnologías digitales después de la pandemia. Según los profesores, las actividades en plataformas digitales fueron diversificadas y amplias, con el uso de diversas herramientas como WhatsApp, Google Classroom, Google Meet, Google Forms, YouTube, Instagram, Canva y Padlet. Las principales potencialidades de estas herramientas fueron la comunicación ágil con los estudiantes y el suministro de materiales de estudio. Sin embargo, también se identificaron limitaciones como la falta de acceso a dispositivos e internet, el cansancio debido al tiempo excesivo frente a las pantallas, la dificultad de mantener la atención en las clases en línea y la adaptación a nuevas tecnologías.Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar as tecnologias digitais utilizadas pelos professores de matemática durante o ensino remoto na pandemia da COVID-19, descrevendo as atividades desenvolvidas e expondo as potencialidades e limitações dessas tecnologias. O estudo constituiu-se com uma abordagem quali-quantitativa de natureza descritiva e exploratória. Como instrumento de coleta de dados foi utilizado um questionário online composto por dez questões que foram respondidas por 34 professores de matemática da rede municipal, estadual e privada de ensino da cidade de Petrolina - PE. As perguntas tratavam sobre as ferramentas tecnológicas utilizadas, orientação ou capacitação para o uso dessas ferramentas e a pretensão de continuar utilizando as tecnologias digitais após a pandemia. De acordo com os professores, as atividades em plataformas digitais foram diversificadas e abrangentes, com o uso de diversas ferramentas como WhatsApp, Google Classroom, Google Meet, Google Forms, YouTube, Instagram, Canva e Padlet. As principais potencialidades dessas ferramentas foram a comunicação ágil com os estudantes e fornecimento de materiais de estudo.
