The Ecosystem of the Research on Online Education: overview of students production in master’s and doctoral degrees programs during the period of 1987 to 2009

Resumo: | This article discusses the need to develop systematic surveys of the scientific output of emergent themes, based on a state-of-the-art research that focuses on establishing the ecosystem of online education by means of: (a) the mapping of theses / dissertations on Distance Learning (DL) in Brazil and registered at CAPES database since 1987; (b) the survey and bibliometric analysis of the writings on Online Education. The corpus of analysis on DL, with 4035 records, was constructed from keywords extracted from Moore, Kearsley and Levy’s DL conceptions and it was observed the growth of writings on the theme by the program’s type and level. Regarding the 247 Online Education surveys, data on its geographical origin, institutional affiliation, funding, source, area of knowledge and topics covered have generated new questions for research on public and institutional policies that use DL. |

El corpus de analisis sobre EAD, con 4035 registros, se compuso a partir de palabras-claves extraidas de concepciones de EAD de Moore, Kearsley y Levy y en el se constato el crecimiento de la produccion sobre el tema por tipo y nivel de curso. En cuanto a las 247 investigaciónes sobre Educacion En Linea, datos sobre origen geografico, vinculaciones institucionales, fuente de financiacion, area de conocimiento y temas tratados originaron nuevas cuestiones para investigaciónes sobre las politicas públicas e institucionales que utilizan la EAD.Este artigo discute a necessidade de se desenvolverem levantamentos sistematicos da produção cientifica de temas emergentes, com base em uma pesquisa tipo estado da arte que teve como objetivo estabelecer o ecossistema da Educação online mediante: (a) o mapeamento das teses/dissertacoes defendidas sobre Educação a Distância (EAD) no Brasil e registradas no Banco da CAPES desde 1987; (b) o levantamento e analise dos aspectos bibliometricos da produção sobre Educação Online. O corpus de analise sobre EAD, com 4035 registros, foi constituido a partir de palavras-chave extraidas das concepcoes de EAD de Moore, Kearsley e Levy, e nele constatou-se o crescimento da produção sobre o tema por tipo e nivel de curso.
