Resumo: | The present study is an essay that has been developed from a delivered conference about multiculturalism, understood as a set of answers to cultural diversity and to the challenge of prejudices, in the educational field. It develops three main arguments, namely: multiculturalism should not be treated as an add-on to the curriculum, or even to a perspective that reduces it to extra-curricular projects; it is relevant to consider ways in which the curricular construction could link the multicultural perspective to different fields of knowledge and to the disciplines of teacher education; the linkage between curriculum and research in a multicultural perspective can arguably boost initial and continuing teacher education in transformative approaches. |

Defiende y desarrolla tres argumentos principales, a saber: el multiculturalismo no debe ser tratado como una adicion al curriculo o a la perspectiva reducida a proyectos extracurriculares; es relevante considerar formas en las cuales el desarrollo curricular podria articular la perspectiva multicultural a los diferentes campos del conocimiento y disciplinas que conforman el curriculo de la formacion del profesorado; y es a partir de la vision de articulacion del curriculo y de la investigación, concebida a por la mirada del multiculturalismo, que creemos que la formacion inicial y continua de los profesores se puede incrementar en una vision transformadora.O presente texto constitui-se em ensaio, a partir de conferencia proferida sobre o multiculturalismo, entendido como um conjunto de respostas à diversidade cultural e desafio a preconceitos, no campo educacional.
