Law n°. 10,826, of December 22, 2003, provided significant changes in the Brazilian social scenario. The Disarmament Statute was developed with the aim of improving rates related to firearm-related deaths. Thus, this study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Disarmament Statute, in order to verify the security guarantees proposed by the Law, its positive and negative aspects and the statistics related to crime and homicide before and after the granting of the Statute. this is the research problem. For this, the evolutionary process of weapons was analyzed, from the Stone Age to the present day, which includes the models developed, the modes of use, the weapons legislation and the right to use. We sought to establish the concept of violence, its first evidence in the Brazilian and world scenarios, and the influence of customs on firearms and the possibilities of public safety. Then, the Disarmament Statute was presented, which provides for the registration, possession and sale of firearms, as well as the punishment to be used in each case. And, finally, the effectiveness of Law n°. 10,826, of December 22, 2003, was verified, based on the investigation of the legal system, the political influence on public opinion, restrictions on access to firearms, the blade , the popular referendum, the crime of abstract danger, the Principle of Offense, disarmament in the international humanitarian context and the draft legislative decree, which proposes the repeal of the Law, these being the research hypotheses.
