The (in)visibility of the epistemological debate on pedagogy within the undergraduate program itself: a study in public universities in the Brazilian state of Bahia

Resumo: | The article problematizes the (in)visibility of the epistemological debate about pedagogy as a science of education in pedagogy undergraduate programs of four public universities in the Brazilian state of Bahia. The documentary analysis of pedagogical projects (Brazilian acronym, PPC) of pedagogy undergraduate programs was made to identify if, and in which way, the debate about pedagogy as a field of academic studies is found in the PPC. Preliminary results reveal that the discussion about the epistemological statute of pedagogy occupies a marginal place or even does not exist inside some of the investigated programs, at least in the scope of the prescribed documents. It is thus verified that the formative processes focus on methodological and didactic dimensions for the teaching practice in the initial years of schooling and on the foundations of the educational sciences, disregarding the complexity of pedagogy as a science of educational praxis in the epistemological field. Realizou-se a análise documental de Projetos Pedagógicos de Cursos (PPC) de licenciatura em Pedagogia, objetivando identificar se, e de qual maneira, o debate sobre a Pedagogia como campo de estudos acadêmicos aparece nos PPC. Os resultados preliminares sublinham que a discussão sobre o estatuto epistemológico da Pedagogia ocupa lugar marginal ou, até mesmo, não existe no interior de alguns dos cursos investigados, ao menos no âmbito dos documentos prescritos. Constata-se, assim, a centralidade dos processos formativos em dimensões metodológicas e didáticas para a docência nos anos iniciais de escolarização e nos fundamentos das ciências da educação, desconsiderando, no campo epistemológico, a complexidade da Pedagogia como ciência da práxis educativa.
