Concerning the discourses on teachers’ professional development

Resumo: | This paper delves into the diverse ways in which teacher development is currently conceptualized. A large bibliographical corpus allows to appreciate how diverse the positions concerning initial teacher development are, as well as the changes teachers should experience in order to improve their teaching practices. Besides the corpus there is another dimension concerning the discourse about teaching practice and professional development issued from its own actors, addressed neither to researchers nor to authorities. The mutual invisibility of those places of discourse production lays down the path for this paper, going further than simply accepting the existence of both discourse modes in order to understand them, as productions of a place that at the same time allows and forbids. |

Este artículo indaga en torno a las diversas formas en que la formación profesional docente se conceptualiza actualmente. La revisión de un extenso corpus bibliográfico permite apreciar una variedad de posturas en relación a la formación inicial así como a los cambios que deberían experimentar los profesores para mejorar la enseñanza. Por fuera de él, o lateralmente mencionado, queda una dimensión del discurso sobre la práctica y la formación profesional docente emanado de sus actores sin estar dirigida a investigadores ni a autoridades. La invisibilidade mutua de ambos lugares de producción del discurso organizará el derrotero de este artículo, yendo más allá de la aceptación de la existencia de ambos modos de discursos para entenderlos justamente como producciones de un lugar que permite y prohíbe. Cet article discute les différentes manières de conceptualiser la formation professionnelle des enseignants aujourd’hui. La révision d’un vaste corpus bibliographique permet d’évaluer un grand éventail de postures sur la formation initiale, ainsi que sur les changements que les enseignants devraient experimenter pour améliorer leur enseignement. A côté de ce corpus, il existe aussi une dimension du discours concernant la pratique et la formation professionnelle des enseignants émanant des acteurs eux-mêmes et qui ne se dirige ni aux chercheurs, ni aux autorités. L’invisibilité mutuelle de ces deux lieux de production du discours sera le fil conducteur de cet article, menant au-delà de la simple acceptation de l’existence des deux modes du discours afin de les comprendre comme des productions issues d’un lieu qui permet et interdit à la fois. Este artigo indaga sobre as diversas formas em que a formação profissional docente é analisada atualmente. A revisão de um extenso corpo bibliográfico permite apreciar uma variedade de posturas no tocante à formação inicial, bem como às mudanças que os professores deveriam experimentar para melhorar o ensino. Fora dele, ou mencionada tangencialmente, fica uma dimensão do discurso sobre a prática e a formação profissional docente emanada de seus atores sem se dirigir a pesquisadores nem a autoridades.
