Information and media competence and the training of elementary school teachers: an experience report

Resumo: It presents the report of a project that has as one of the objectives of developing training activities for teachers and students, that propitiate the inclusion of the information and media literacy in the curriculum and school culture of two municipal schools in the city of Marilia, São Paulo, Brazil. This is a pilot project, which follows the approach of action research in progress since 2013. The project's partners the Department of Education of the City and the managers of the participating schools. The teacher training work is one of the project actions and was discussed and planned together with those involved. The content covers the concept of the school library, including print and digital various information resources that can be used as resources for learning. School research is presented as a strategy for the process of teaching and learning, during which they can be worked out elements of the information and media competence. The monitoring of project results is being carried out through the evaluation through questionnaires and, indirectly, through consultation to the weekly report of the teachers. It is noticed that gradually worked the contents have been included in activities and resulted in exhibitions of student work. Another development is the proposal to expand the project to other municipal schools

Trata-se de um projeto piloto, que segue a abordagem da pesquisa-ação, em andamento desde 2013. O projeto tem como parceiros a Secretaria de Educação do Município e os gestores das escolas participantes. O trabalho de formação de professores é uma das ações do projeto e foi discutido e planejado em conjunto com os envolvidos. O conteúdo abrange o conceito de biblioteca escolar, incluindo recursos informacionais variados impressos e digitais, que podem ser utilizados como recursos para aprendizagem. A pesquisa escolar é apresentada como uma estratégia para o processo de ensino-aprendizagem, durante o qual podem ser trabalhados elementos da competência informacional e midiática. O acompanhamento dos resultados do projeto está sendo realizado através da avaliação por meio de questionários e, de forma indireta, através da consulta ao relatório semanal dos professores. Percebe-se que, aos poucos, os conteúdos trabalhados têm sido incluídos em atividades e resultaram em exposições de trabalhos dos alunos.
