From executive to cultural producer: career transition and entrepreneurship in the live entertainment industry

This teaching case presents the challenges faced by Miguel, an executive producer of cultural events acting at the cities of Barbalha, Crato and Juazeiro do Norte, located in the southern region of the state of Ceará. Miguel plans his transition from executive producer to cultural producer, which also implies a profound change in his professional life: from employee to entrepreneur in the sector. The case adopts a theoretical perspective related to cultural entrepreneurship, and instrumental perspectives related to business plan building and project management. The proposed practical dilemmas favor the immersion of the student in the role of the protagonist, so that learning is favored in the light of the underlying theoretical-conceptual contribution.
