Scientific and technological literacy: a necessity for teacher training

Resumo: | The importance of scientific and technological development for humanity is unquestionable. However, the impacts arising from this process require a critical-reflexive attitude towards techno-scientific advances and their effects in and for society. In this work we propose a teacher training based on the CTS (Science, Technology and Society) studies, with a view to "Scientific and Technological Literacy", where such an approach is suggested as a way of raising teachers' critical awareness of their pedagogical praxis, broadening horizons For reflection and questioning in the face of these changes. It is a bibliographical research on teacher training and social studies of science and technology in which we point to the CTS approach as an alternative for the construction of this critical perception and ability to interact with the reality in which we witness imposed by the own evolution in the field of human knowledge. |

É inquestionável a importância do desenvolvimento científico e tecnológico para a humanidade. No entanto, os impactos decorrentes deste processo nos exigem uma postura crítica-reflexiva em relação aos avanços tecnocientíficos e seus efeitos na e para a sociedade. Neste trabalho propomos uma formação docente fundamentada nos estudos de Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade (CTS), com vistas a “Alfabetização Científica e Tecnológica”, onde se sugere tal abordagem como forma de elevar a consciência crítica dos professores quanto à sua práxis pedagógica, ampliando horizontes para reflexão e questionamentos frente a estas mudanças.
