The teaching of Portuguese for specific purposes in Professional Education: some reflections

Resumo: This article aims to analyze the teaching of Portuguese Language for Specific Purposes (LPFE) inProfessional Technology Education. The reflections briefly pass through three moments. The first one, between the years 1920 and 1930, from the panorama outlined by Cunha (2000 and 2005) in Vocational Training. The second, in the 1970s and 1980s, when reflecting on the Instrumental Approach (Cintra, 2009) and Ramos (2009) and Needs Analysis by Santos (2003) and Cintra and Passarelli (2008) with the purpose of teaching language for specific purposes. In the third moment, an analysis is made of how the current situation of LPFE teaching is based on the analysis of the secondary technical training curriculum of the Construction Course of two Public Technical Education Institutions: the Paula Souza Center and the Federal Institute of São Paulo (IFSP). The analyzes of the documents indicate that the LPFE discipline of the Paula Souza Center and that of the IFSP campus São Paulo Capital have adequate contents for professional training and, if worked out from the Instrumental Approach (AI) and the AN, would promotea better use of the classes of LPFE.In conclusion, the LPFE (Language, Work and Technology) discipline in the Centro Paula Souza, because it is transversal, it is offered in all courses while in the IFSP the discipline is optional.

As reflexões perpassam brevemente três momentos. O primeiro, entre os anos 1920 e 1930, a partir do panorama traçado por Cunha (2000 e 2005) na Formação Profissional. O segundo, nos anos 1970 e 1980, ao refletir sobre a Abordagem Instrumental, (AI) (Cintra, 2009) e Ramos (2009) e a Análises de Necessidades (AN) por (Santos, 2003) e Cintra e Passarelli (2008) com a finalidade de ensinar língua para fins específicos. No terceiro momento, é feita uma análise de como está a atual situação do ensino da LPFE a partir da análise do currículo de formação técnica de nível médio do Curso de Edificações de duas Instituições Públicas de ensino técnico: o Centro Paula Souza e o Instituto Federal de São Paulo (IFSP). As análises dos documentos apontam que disciplina de LPFE do Centro Paula Souza e a do IFSP campus São Paulo Capital possuem conteúdos adequados para a formação profissional e, se trabalhadas a partir da Abordagem Instrumental (AI) e da AN, promoveriam um melhor aproveitamento das aulas de LPFE.
