Resumo: | This paper aims to analyze the influence of family inheritance on the adaptation of students to higher education. This discussion is based on the contributions of the theorist Pierre Bourdieu. Field research data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with college students. The results showed that the initial period of entrance to university and the adaptation to higher education were marked by family inheritance. Students reported experiencing a feeling of strangeness towards the university field and the inability to meet academic requirements. It was concluded that family inheritance has an effect on higher education; however, it does not determine the progress of the students. |

La discusión se basa en las aportaciones del teórico Pierre Bourdieu. Los datos de la investigación de campo se obtuvieron mediante entrevistas semiestructuradas con estudiantes universitarios. Los resultados indicaron que el periodo inicial del ingreso a la universidad y la adaptación a la educación superior fueron marcados por la herencia familiar. Los estudiantes reportaron sentir cierta extrañeza con relación al ámbito universitario e incapacidad frente a las exigencias académicas. Se concluye que, aunque repercute en la educación superior, la herencia familiar no es determinante en el progreso de los estudiantes.Este artigo visa analisar a influência da herança familiar na adaptação de estudantes ao ensino superior. Pierre Bourdieu é o teórico que subsidia a discussão. Os dados da pesquisa de campo foram obtidos por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas com estudantes universitários. Os resultados indicaram que o período inicial de entrada na universidade e a adaptação ao ensino superior foram marcados pela herança familiar. Os estudantes relataram sentir um estranhamento em relação ao campo universitário e incapacidade diante das exigências acadêmicas.
