Resumo: In dialogue with Arnaut’s (2018) perspective, for whom Portuguese fictional literary production from the 2000s onwards has as a characteristic the recurrence of intertextual and interart practices, allied to representations of extreme violence and characters marked by what the author considers pathological imbalances, in the narrative of Uso Errado da Vida (Wrong Use of Life) by Paulo Rodrigues Ferreira we can see the constitution of an immoderately intertextual plot in which the characters reveal more and more maladjustments at every moment, with regard to the conventionally established standards of conduct and social coexistence. In this sense, this paper proposes an analysis of the representation of the abject in Wrong Use of Life, especially from Orestes, the protagonist with the same name of the tragedy Oresteia, by Ésquilo. We will take Kristeva’s (1982) propositions as a theoretical basis about the concept of the abject.

We will take Kristeva’s (1982) propositions as a theoretical basis about the concept of the abject.
