The focus of this study is the relationship between teacher and student - questioned after experiences as a student and a class assistant - , which is related to aspects reflected in the learning and teaching processes. The paper aims to analyze the teacher-student relationship and reflects the creation of this interaction in a way that the learning experience becomes more meaningful and the students feel more motivated to learn. This is a qualitative research based on bibliographic material; observation of educational activities taken inside and outside the classroom; and questionnaire open to teachers and educational coordinators of elementary school - from the same educational institution. The results identified that there are many favorable and positive aspects to the teacher-student relationship. Obstacles and difficulties were mentioned only in casual conversations and were related to specialist teachers. This fact suggested the proposed intervention, held in pedagogical meetings, through reflection about the relationship that teachers have with their students, and the need to maintain democratic relationships to promote a significant learning to the students
