This study aims to reflect on how the teacher of the early years can develop a work that presents meaning and helps in the formation of the reader, presenting an attitude of encouragement and mediator. In addition, the research deepened into how the teacher can make a commitment to make the practice of reading as a habit inserted in the daily lives of students. Therefore it used as methodology a bibliographic review. This the study reflects on the importance of reading in the children's universe, with the insertion of consistent plans and strategies in activities aimed at students and recognizing the child as a developing subject that must be inserted in the cultural and social environment. In this context, the use of some resources and actions encourages and enriches the pleasure of reading and consequently will contribute to the process of improving reading quality over the early years
