Resumo: The objective of this study was to verify and analyze the experiences and perceptions of elderly with type 2 diabetes. Thirty-five diabetic elderly were selected from the Endocrinology Ambulatory and Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Hospital das Clínicas, School of Medicine, University of São Paulo. Through the thematic analysis of the semi-structured interviews content, it was found that the elderly feel the need for family support and have a negative future perspective.

Through the thematic analysis of the semi-structured interviews content, it was found that the elderly feel the need for family support and have a negative future perspective. El objetivo de este estudio fue verificar y analizar cualitativamente las experiencias y percepciones de ancianos diabéticos de la clínica ambulatoria de endocrinología y Instituto de Ortopedia y Traumatología, Hospital das Clínicas, Facultad de Medicina, Universidad de São Paulo. Através de las análisis temáticas del contenido de las entrevistas semiestructuradas, se descubrió que los ancianos sienten la necesidad de apoyo familiar y tienen una perspectiva negativa sobre el futuro. O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar e analisar qualitativamente as vivências e percepções de idosos diabéticos tipo 2, em relação à doença. Foram selecionados 35 idosos diabéticos do Ambulatório de Endocrinologia e Instituto de Ortopedia e Traumatologia do Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo.
