The clinical supervision success in the transition of the new graduated nurse to professional practice: integrative review of literature

Resumo: The transition between the academic formation and professional practice has a significant impact on the professional course of the newly graduated nurse, but mostly in the actual background of Nursing practice. The general aim of this integrative review of literature is to “Determine which factors ensure the effectiveness of the clinical supervision in the newly graduated nurse’s transition to the professional practice”. As methodology, the PICO was used to formulate the investigation question: “Which factors determine the effectiveness of clinical supervision in the newly graduated nurse’s transition to the professional practice, based on literature?” The synthesis of scientific knowledge follows the steps proposed by The Joanna Briggs Institute. The analysis of the 14 selected articles gives orientations about the effectiveness of clinical supervision. In the perspective of the newly graduated nurses and their supervisors, the themes were divided in: “Clinical supervision: importance and factors which determine its success”; “the role of the supervising nurse on clinical supervision: ideal profile.”; “limitations in clinical supervision: barriers” and “The effectiveness of clinical supervision: strategies to adapt”. The quality of the clinical supervision is determined by factors that must be considered to ensure its effectiveness. The implementation of effective supervision processes allows to answer the needs of the newly graduated nurses during the transition to professional practice increasing their satisfaction and bond towards the profession. In this way, it is possible to potentiate their professional development, promoting health gains related to safety and quality care.

El objetivo general de esta revisión integrativa de la literatura es “Determinar los factores que permitem la eficiencia de la supervision clinica en la transión do enfermeiro recíen graduado para la prática profesional”. Como metodologia, se recurrió a la PICO para formular la questión de investigacin: “Qué factores determinan a eficiencia de la supervision clinica en la transicion do enfermero recíen graduado para la practica profissional, com base en la literatura?” La síntesis del conocimiento científico obedece a las etapas propuestas por el The Joanna Briggs Institute. La analise de los 14 artículos selecionados proporciona las orientaciones sobre la eficiencia de la supervision clinica. De acuerdo con la visión de los enfermeros recíen graduados e de los enfermeros supervisores, los temas se agrupan en: “Supervision clinica: su importancia y factores que determinan su sucesso”; “ lo papel de lo enfermero supervisor durante la supervisión clinica: el perfil ideal”; “las limitaciones en la supervisón clínica: las barreras”; “ una supervisiõn clínica eficiente: las estrategias a adoptar”. La qualidad de la supervisión clinica se determina por los factores que se consideran capaces de assegurar su eficiencia. La implementación de los procesos supervisivos eficientes permite responder las necessidades de los enfermeros recíen graduados en la transición para la pratica profesional, aumentando su satisfacción y vinculación sobre la profisión. De esta forma, se potencia su desarrolo profesional, promoviendo los benefícios en salud relacionados com los cuidados seguros y de calidad.A transição da formação académica para a prática profissional tem um impacto significativo no percurso profissional do enfermeiro recém-licenciado, sobretudo no contexto atual do exercício da Enfermagem. Assim, o objetivo geral desta revisão integrativa da literatura é “Determinar que fatores têm impacto na eficiência da supervisão clínica na transição do enfermeiro recém-licenciado para a prática profissional”. Como metodologia, recorreu-se ao PICO para formular a questão de investigação: “Quais os fatores que determinam a eficiência da supervisão clínica na transição do enfermeiro recém-licenciado para a prática profissional, com base na literatura?”. A síntese do conhecimento científico obedece às etapas propostas pelo The Joanna Briggs Institute. A análise das 14 produções científicas selecionadas faculta orientações acerca da eficiência da supervisão clínica. Com base na perspetiva de enfermeiros recém-licenciados e enfermeiros supervisores, as temáticas foram agrupadas do seguinte modo: “supervisão clínica: importância e fatores que determinam o seu sucesso”; “papel do enfermeiro supervisor durante a supervisão clínica: perfil ideal”; “limitações da supervisão clínica: barreiras” e “uma supervisão clínica eficiente: estratégias a adotar”. A qualidade da supervisão clínica é determinada por fatores que devem ser considerados para assegurar a sua eficiência. A implementação de processos supervisivos eficientes permite atender às necessidades dos enfermeiros recém-licenciados durante a transição para a prática profissional, aumentando a sua satisfação e vinculação à profissão.
