O presente estudo tem como objetivo geral aprofundar o estudo das fantasias maternas precoces atrav?s da an?lise de conte?do de can??es de embalar utilizadas pelas m?es na contemporaneidade. Como objetivos espec?ficos foram definidos: analisar a frequ?ncia da utiliza??o de can??es de embalar e a sua rela??o com vari?veis sociodemogr?ficas; estabelecer o papel destas can??es nas rotinas do adormecer e as rea??es da crian?a; investigar a transmiss?o intergeracional das can??es; efetuar compara??es entre as can??es contempor?neas e as registadas em recolhas etnogr?ficas. Participaram neste estudo 84 m?es com idades compreendidas entre os 22 e 47 anos (M = 34,22; DP = 4,74) com filhos de ambos os sexos com idades compreendidas entre 2 e 36 meses (M = 19,01; DP = 10,79), ?s quais foi solicitado que preenchessem um breve question?rio sociodemogr?fico e familiar e que registassem por escrito ou em formato ?udio as can??es que utilizam. Foi recolhido um total de 70 can??es, objeto de an?lise de conte?do e categoriza??o por tr?s ju?zes independentes. Os resultados revelam que 54,8% das m?es utilizam can??es de embalar no momento do adormecimento dos filhos. N?o foram encontradas rela??es estatisticamente significativas com a maior parte das vari?veis sociodemogr?ficas e familiares, com exce??o dos rendimentos, idade da crian?a e identifica??o com uma cren?a religiosa. Foram ainda identificadas rea??es diversas por parte da crian?a ? can??o de embalar e ind?cios da transmiss?o intergeracional por via da linhagem materna. As diferen?as identificadas entre os conte?dos das can??es de embalar contempor?neas e as registadas etnograficamente, sugerem a influ?ncia e impacto de viv?ncias socioculturais distintas, com um maior enfoque das fantasias maternas na dimens?o objetal e menor na vertente simb?lica. / The present study aims to analyse early maternal fantasies through the content analysis of lullabies used by contemporary mothers. Its specific aims were: analyse the frequency of singing lullabies during sleeping time and its relations with sociodemographic variables; establish the role of this practice on sleep routines and analyse child reactions to lullabies; investigate its intergenerational transmission; compare contemporary lullabies with those recorded in ethnographic collections. 84 mothers aged between 22 and 47 years old (M = 34,22; DP = 4,74) participated in this study. They had children of both sexes aged between 2 and 36 months (M = 19,01; DP = 10,79) and were asked to complete a brief sociodemographic and familiar questionnaire and to write or record the lullabies they sing. A total of 70 lullabies were collected, which were then the focus of content analysis and categorization by three independent judges. The results show that 54,8% of the mothers sing lullabies during sleeping time. No statistically significant relationships were found with the majority of sociodemographic and family variables, except with income, child age and identification with a religious belief. Children exhibited a wide range of reactions to the lullabies (besides soothing), and evidences of intergenerational transmission through the maternal lineage were found. Several differences were found between the contents of contemporary lullabies content and those recorded ethnographically, which suggest the influence and impact of distinct sociocultural experiences and an increasing focus of maternal fantasies on objectal dimensions, as opposed to the symbolic nature that characterized traditional songs.
