Valida??o da Escala de Atitudes e Cren?as Transg?nero: vers?o reduzida para a popula??o portuguesa - ?Transgender Attitudes and Beliefs Scale?

Objetivo: A atual investiga??o apresenta como finalidade a valida??o da Escala de Atitudes e Cren?as Transg?nero ? Vers?o Reduzida (TABS) para a popula??o portuguesa. A presente escala foi desenvolvida no ano de 2017, por Yasuko Kanamori e colaboradores, cujo principal objetivo se reflete na medi??o das cren?as e atitudes da popula??o geral face a pessoas transg?nero. A TABS ? constitu?da por tr?s subescalas ? ?Conforto Interpessoal? (CI), ?Cren?as Relativamente ao Sexo/G?nero? (CG) e ?Valor Humano? (VH). M?todos: A investiga??o contou com a participa??o de 279 sujeitos (18 ? 74 anos; M = 35,07; DP = 14,65) e dividiu-se em duas fases: Estudo 1 ? Propriedades Psicom?tricas TABS (29 itens); Estudo 2 ? Propriedade Psicom?tricas TABS (vers?o reduzida). Resultados: A an?lise da validade facial revela uma boa compreensibilidade da totalidade dos itens. A an?lise fatorial confirmat?ria apresenta valores considerados aceit?veis (CFI = 0,96; TLI = 0,95), bem como, valores de correla??o estatisticamente significativos entre as tr?s subescalas da TABS (CI e CG: r = 0,38**; CI e VH: r = 0,44**; CG e VH: r = 0,26**). A an?lise de confiabilidade revela uma consist?ncia interna alta (Total: ? = 0,98). A validade divergente verificou-se sustentada pelas correla??es negativas e estatisticamente significativas (*p < 0,05; **p < 0,01) entre o conforto interpessoal, as cren?as relativamente ao sexo/g?nero e o valor humano com o sexismo benevolente, o sexismo hostil, o posicionamento religioso e as cren?as relativamente ao Pride Day (rela??es baixas a elevadas). Conclus?o: Ap?s a an?lise dos resultados obtidos, depreende-se que as atitudes e cren?as da popula??o portuguesa face a pessoas transg?nero possam ser medidas e avaliadas, de forma vi?vel e segura, atrav?s da TABS. A atual valida??o prev?-se de grande utilidade, dado que se apresenta sob forma reduzida (12 itens ao inv?s de 29) e com linguagem acess?vel a todos os sujeitos com idade igual ou superior a 18 anos. | Objective: The purpose of this study is to validate the Transgender Attitudes and Beliefs Scale - Short Version (TABS) for the Portuguese population. This scale was developed in 2017 by Yasuko Kanamori and colleagues, whose main purpose is to measure the beliefs and attitudes of the general population towards transgender people. The TABS consists of three subscales - "Interpersonal Comfort" (IC), "Sex/Gender Beliefs " (GB) and "Human Value" (HV). Methods: The research had the participation of 279 subjects (18 - 74 years; M = 35.07; SD = 14.65) and was divided into two phases: Study 1 - TABS Psychometric Properties (29 items); Study 2 - TABS Short Version Psychometric Properties. Results: The face validity analysis reveals a good comprehensibility of all items. The confirmatory factor analysis presents values considered acceptable (CFI = 0.96; TLI = 0.95), as well as statistically significant correlation values between the three subscales of the TABS (IC and GB: r = 0.38**; IC and HV: r = 0.44**; GB and HV: r = 0.26**). Reliability analysis revealed high internal consistency (Total: ? = 0.98). Divergent validity was supported by negative and statistically significant correlations (*p < 0.05; **p < 0.01) between interpersonal comfort, sex/gender beliefs and human value with benevolent sexism, hostile sexism, religious positioning and Pride Day beliefs (low to high relationships). Conclusion: After the analysis of the results obtained, it appears that the attitudes and beliefs of the Portuguese population towards transgender people may be measured and assessed, in a feasible and safe way, using the TABS. The current validation is expected to be very useful, since it is presented in a short form (12 items instead of 29) and in a language accessible to all individuals aged 18 years or more.
