Para realizar essa pesquisa, foi preciso primeiramente saber algumas características do aluno surdocego, quais as principais causas da surdocegueira, como é o método de comunicação utilizado por eles e um pouco da sua história. Em seguida, foi preciso conhecer o que é um guia-intérprete, qual o papel do professor na sua função de guia-intérprete educacional e quais os métodos utilizados em sala de aula com esse aluno. Os dados dessa pesquisa foram obtidos através de quatro professoras da Secretaria de Educação do Distrito Federal (SEDF), no período de março a junho de 2012. Foram aplicados questionários para conhecer melhor sua atividade dentro de sala de aula, e com base nesses questionários foi possível saber qual o método mais utilizado por elas na comunicação com o aluno, quais as dificuldades encontradas no dia a dia de sua profissão, quais os cursos necessários para atuar junto com esse público e a formação mais adequada desse professor. Após a análise destes dados foi possível concluir que o reconhecimento da Língua Brasileira de Sinais – Libras foi de extrema importância para a comunicação e o ingresso do surdocego ao ensino regular. Constatou-se que a maior parte das guias-intérpretes é do sexo feminino e para atuar com esse aluno é preciso ter além de formação superior, de preferência na área de educação, cursos que as auxiliem.This paper analyzes the activity of the educational guide-interpreter in some public schools in Distrito Federal. At first, in order to conduct this research, it was necessary to know some characteristics of the deafblind student, which the main causes of deafblindness are, what the method of communication used by them is like and a little bit of its history. Then, it was necessary to know what a guide-interpreter is, what the teacher's role is in his function as an educational guide-interpreter and the methods used in the classroom with this kind of student. The data from this research were obtained from four teachers of the Secretaria de Educação do Distrito Federal (SEDF). Questionnaires were used to better understand their activity within the classroom, and based on this questionnaire it was possible to know the method used by them in the communication with the student, what are the difficulties encountered in everyday life of their profession, which courses are necessary to work with this audience and better training of teachers. After the analysis of these data, it was concluded that the recognition of Brazilian Signs Language - LIBRAS, was extremely important for the communication of the deafblind and his entry to regular education.
